Abstract. The article describes the main stages of the creation of the Siberian Aeronautical Research Institute (SibNIA) named after S. A. Chaplygin from 1941 to the nowdays. The main works on aerodynamics and strength under normal conditions, at high and cryogenic temperatures of hypersonic aviation, rocket and space technology are presented. The issues of creating a composite aircraft TVS-2DTS, which is a modernization of the An-2 aircraft, are considered, and examples of restoration of aircrafts form the Great Patriotic War times are given.
