AUTOMATION OF THE CONTROL OF DYNAMIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RELAY
(pp. 41-46)

Abstract. This article proposes а method to monitor dynamic parameters of low-voltage electromagnetic relays. It describes hardware and soft-ware for relay time parameters measurement using contacts voltage scope and coil current scope. Software can automatically find points of interest on the scopes. Using these points it determines following parameters: operate time, release time, bounce time, contact travel time, seating time, armature moving time. Software also calculates minimum, maximum and average values of parameters and their deviations from default values which show the stability of parameters. Algorithm points out relays with unusual curves for contact voltage and coil current. It is possible to investigate such curves in the software manually to find the defect or reason for it. Calculation algorithms for armature moving parameters are described in details as they are more complicated than calculation of other parameters. It is shown that proposed method is efficient in finding relay dynamic parameters and identification of defect or unstable relays.

Keywords: electromagnetic relay, the dynamic characteristics of the relay, control device.
