Sokolova A.G., Balitsky F.Ya., Dolaberidze G.V., Ivanova M.A. Abstract. Machinery degradation processes as rule lead to the appearance of various modulated components in the vibration signals, so their analysis is very important part of the diagnostic procedure aimed to detect arising and developed machinery faults. The article gives the results of simulation of modeling machinery vibrations with amplitude (AM) and/or frequency (FM) modulation, the signals and their envelopes features calculated with using of Gilbert and Fourier transforms. Separate and joint influence of AM/FM upon harmonic signal are investigated and described with the analysis of peculiar properties of modulation indexes. Some probable errors (including incidental modulation) which could arise when the modulation is complicated are estimated and the ways to decrease or eliminate it are shown. Keywords: vibration, simulation modeling, vibration diagnostics, Gilbert and Furie Transform, modulated signal envelope, envelope spectrum, modulation index and deviation.
