The article deals with the results of investigation of influence of steel ShН15 on oxidation and anti-wear properties of the mineral engine oil Spectrol Super Universal 15W-40 SF / CC. The coefficient of the catalytic effect is proposed to quantify the impact on steel ShН15 oxidation. The coefficient is defined as the ratio of the coefficients of thermal oxidative stability of the oils tested without steel and with steel. The criterion of anti-wear properties P is offered to evaluate the anti-wear properties of oxidized oils and the influence of these properties. The criterion is defined as the ratio of the absorption coefficient of the light flux to wear parameters. Keywords: oxidative stability, wear scar diameter, the absorption coefficient of the light flux criterion, antiwear properties, coefficient of steel influence.
