This article discusses the use of coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to assess the manufacturing quality of disc shears, a complex-profile gear-cutting tool. The developed hardware and software package is presented, which makes it possible to automate the process of controlling the geometric parameters of the tool in accordance with the requirements of GOST 8570‒80. The method of forming control points on the lateral surface of the teeth, an algorithm for measuring and processing the results to determine key quality indicators is described: radial runout of the tooth ring, fluctuations in the length of the general normal, deviations in the engagement pitch, errors in the profile and direction of the tooth. Special attention is paid to the presentation of the developed algorithm for processing measurement information, which ensures that the control results comply with the requirements of regulatory documentation. It is concluded that the proposed solution makes it possible to unify, automate and improve the efficiency of the quality control process of complex gear-cutting tools at machine-building enterprises. Keywords: quality assessment, disk locker, coordinate measuring machine (CMM), software, control points, geometric parameters, processing algorithm.
