Abstract. The comparison of methods of sensitivity equalization during ultrasonic inspection of butt welded joints made of pearlitic class steels with the use of phased array flaw detectors in the sector scan mode with focusing and without focusing is carried out. The analysis of normative documentation is carried out, advantages and disadvantages of methods of direct sensitivity adjustment on reflectors of side cylindrical hole, flat-bottom hole, notch type are systematized. It is shown that there is no ideal way to tie the signal amplitude from the reference reflectors for guaranteed equalization of sensitivity for the whole area in case the quality assessment standards are set by the equivalent area of a flat-bottom reflector or a notch.
Keywords: phased array, TCG, ACG, sensitivity.
